LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College women's lacrosse picked up their first CSAC win of the season defeating Sweet Briar College 14-6 Saturday morning at the Keystone College Turf Field. Keystone moves to 2-5 (1-0 CSAC) while Sweet Briar falls to 1-5 (0-1 CSAC).
Meaghan Drennan (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) led Keystone with five goals and nine ground balls. Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) chipped in with four goals, seven ground balls, three caused turnovers, and one assist. Makayla Batts (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) notched a hat trick with four caused turnovers and one assist. Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) and Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) chipped in with a goal apiece.
For Sweet Briar, Valen Foster scored four goals and had four ground balls on the day. Sofia Martinez and Victoria Schofield both scored a goal.
The Giants posted a 43-17 margin on shots, and had a 48-25 advantage on ground balls. Both teams won 12 draw controls.
Keystone will head to Notre Dame of Maryland University on Wednesday, Mar. 12 at 4 p.m. Sweet Briar hosts Wilson College on the same day.
