SCRANTON, Pa.- The Keystone College men's basketball team secured their first win of the season as they knocked off Washington College (Md.) on a buzzer beater 68-65 Friday evening in their first game of the Electric City Classic hosted by Marywood University.
Keystone improves to 1-3 and Washington College falls to 4-3.
Tyler Fox (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) scored a game-high 26 points to go along with 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. The sophomore guard shot 82 percent from the field (9-of-11), 86 percent from three (6-of-7), and hit the game winning three. Boston Caldwell (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake) scored 11 points with four rebounds. Brandon Scott (Cheltenham, Pa./Cheltenham) and Daryl Coleman (Allentown, Pa./Southern Lehigh) combined for 17 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.
For the Shoreman, Davis Bland recorded a game high 15 points with three rebounds and three blocks. Nolan Waldon and Ty Woodland both had 10 points.
Keystone tied the game at 65 with 23 seconds remaining in the contest with a three by Coleman. The Shoreman tried a three of their own to retake the lead, but it fell short. Following a Keystone timeout, Coleman would find Fox off the inbound where he would hit the game-winning three just past half court to give the Giants their first victory.
Washington College held a 41-30 lead at halftime, but the Giants outscored them 38-25 in the second half. Keystone held a 39 percent field goal percentage while also shooting 43 percent from behind the arc.
The Giants resume Electric City Classic action tomorrow afternoon as they take on St. Joseph University's Brooklyn at 2 p.m.
