WILKES-BARRE, Pa.- The Keystone College women's basketball team enjoyed a comeback win Saturday afternoon as they defeated Wilkes University 66-64 on the road.
Anyah Ortiz (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) flirted with a triple-double as she scored 18 points to go along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Tamari Hubbard (Bronx, N.Y./Mott Haven) finished with 17 points and six rebounds.
Yamirelis Matos led the Lady Colonels with 19 points, six rebounds, and four steals. Julianna Askins chipped in with 10 points and five steals.
The Giants trailed 37-32 at the break and used a monster second half to spark the comeback. The team outscored Wilkes 34-27 in the second half, which was highlighted by 21 points in the fourth quarter.
Following a Keystone timeout with 18 seconds left, Ortiz would inbound to Malysia Bryant who would covert the game winning layup with six seconds remaining. Wilkes tried to answer back with a bucket of their own but were unsuccessful.
Keystone (6-5) will be back on the court after Christmas when they travel to New Jersey to face Rutgers-Newark in their nonconference finale on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 5 p.m.
