JOHNSON, Vt.- The Keystone College men's basketball team suffered a 76-65 defeat to Vermont State University Randolph in the championship game of the Vermont State University Tip-Off Classic Sunday evening.
Jden Golding (Jacksonville, Fla./Clay) led the way as he posted a near double-double with 19 points, nine assists, and five rebounds while shooting 58 percent from the field. He was selected to the all-tournament team at the conclusion of the tournament.
Ahmodrion Jones (Wilmington, Del./Delcastle Tech) and PJ Murphy (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) each added 12 points, with Jones pulling down eight rebounds and Murphy contributing seven boards. Demetrius Thomas (Atlanta, Ga./North Clayton) posted nine points and 12 rebounds, while Josh Brown (Phillipsburg, N.J./Bethlehem Catholic) chipped in seven points and four assists.
VTSU Randolph was led by Jaylon Calvin and Shandon Anderson, who scored 15 points, while Tommy Nguyen and Xzavier Ivey added 11 apiece.
The Giants battled throughout but couldn't recover from an early deficit, trailing 41-27 at halftime. Keystone tightened up defensively in the second half and outscored Randolph 38-35 in the second half.
The Knights capitalized on their hot shooting, finishing 48.3 percent from the floor and a perfect 12-for-12 from the foul line. Keystone held a 37-31 advantage on the boards and tallied 13 second chance points.
Keystone (1-1) returns home to Pennsylvania to face Marywood University on the road this Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.
