Giants’ Comeback Bid Comes Up Short Against Saint Elizabeth

LA PLUME, Pa.- Keystone College men's basketball came up just short Wednesday night, falling 75–73 to Saint Elizabeth University in a tightly contested nonconference matchup.

The Giants erased a 12-point halftime deficit with a strong second half but couldn't complete the comeback in the final seconds.

Saint Elizabeth (5-5) led 42–30 at the break behind efficient shooting and timely three-pointers, then withstood Keystone's late push by converting free throws down the stretch.

Keystone was paced by Jden Golding (Jacksonville, Fla./Clay), who poured in a game-high 20 points on 10-of-17 shooting while adding eight rebounds and four assists. Kamdyn Ayers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Western) followed with 18 points, six assists and three steals, and PJ Murphy (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) delivered 17 points and nine rebounds off the bench.

The Giants dominated inside, outscoring Saint Elizabeth 46–22 in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 45–37.

After trailing by as many as 14 points early in the second half, Keystone steadily chipped away. Ayers and Golding fueled the run, and Murphy's interior presence helped the Giants take their first lead at 49–48 with just under 11 minutes remaining. The teams traded baskets and the lead changed hands multiple times over the final stretch.

Saint Elizabeth regained control in the closing minute, using free throws from Tye-Rell Monroe and Joseph Mazzola to build a four-point cushion. Ayers scored on a layup with 10 seconds left to make it a two-point game, but Mazzola sealed the outcome at the line before Ayers converted one last basket at the buzzer.

Monroe led the Eagles with 13 points, while Mazzola added 13 points and seven rebounds. Johnathan Quiles added 12 points and three rebounds. The visitors shot 47.4 percent from the field and connected on seven three-pointers.

Keystone (2-10) will return to action following the holiday break as they face Alvernia University on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m.
