Men’s Basketball Topped by Penn State Harrisburg in Home Opener

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College men's basketball team dropped its home opener Saturday afternoon to Penn State Harrisburg, 83–60.

Keystone (1–7, 0–2 United East) struggled to keep pace early, scoring just 22 points in the first half while Harrisburg (4–4, 2–0 United East) shot 56.3 percent before the break and hit six threes to build a commanding 48–22 lead.

Jden Golding (Jacksonville, Fla./Clay) led the Giants with an all-around performance, finishing with 19 points, nine rebounds, and three assists, while Josh Brown (Phillipsburg, N.J./Bethlehem Catholic) added 16 points and four boards. Demetrius Thomas (Atlanta, Ga./North Clayton) scored 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting, and Ahmodrion Jones (Wilmington, Del./Delcastle Tech) contributed 10 points of his own, including two three-pointers.

The Nittany Lions shot 52.5 percent from the field and nearly 48 percent from three, with four players scoring in double figures. Dylan Moore paced the visitors with 17 points, while Jordan Spencer added 16 and hit four three-pointers.

After Harrisburg pushed the lead to 31 midway through the second half, Keystone responded with one of its best stretches of the afternoon. Brown and Golding combined for a flurry of buckets, and the Giants shot a much-improved 46.9 percent after halftime.

Jones knocked two threes in the second half, and Jeramiah Maxwell-Lawus (Philadelphia, Pa./Belmont Charter) added a strong driving layup and free throw to energize the Giants.

Keystone forced 12 turnovers and held even in fast-break points (10–10), but Harrisburg's second-chance scoring (16–8), paint production (36–32), and perimeter shooting proved too difficult to overcome.

The Giants host SUNY Potsdam next Saturday at 2 p.m.
