MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Keystone College softball team picked up their first win of the season as they routed Penn State Hazleton 16-3 in five innings but suffered a 6-5 walk-off loss in extras to Covenant College (Ga.) Tuesday afternoon.
Game One: Penn State Hazleton 3, Keystone 16 (5 inn.)
The Giants used a 10 run second inning and a six run third inning to lead them to their first win of the campaign. Hanaje Riley (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) posted a game high four RBI with a sac fly and a bases clearing triple. Isabella Benitez (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) and Isabella Madnarano recorded three RBI. Kiara Taylor (Berlin, Md./Decatur) and Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) each had two hits.
Emily Schultz (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) earned her first win in the circle as she went three innings with five strikeouts. Benitez appeared in relief and struck out two batters in two innings of work.
Game Two: Keystone 5, Covenant 6 (8 inn.)
Mara Brooks (Manassas, Va./Brentsville) went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Sam Ratti (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) had three hits to lead the Giants offense. Schultz started game two and went five innings with a strikeout. Julia Gorel (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) pitched the rest of the contest in relief.
Covenant scored first as they tallied a run in the first and second innings. Keystone responded with three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Scot tied the game with an RBI single in the fifth.
In the sixth inning, Brooks gave Keystone the lead with an RBI groundout. Covenant would retake the lead with two RBI singles to put them up, 5-4. Rachel Murray (Old Forge, Pa./Old Forge) equalized the contest in the seventh with an RBI sac fly which eventually sent the game to extra innings.
The Scots would walk it off in the bottom of the eighth as Isabella Duran ripped an RBI single to left field to score Cailey Barnett and give Covenant the victory.

Keystone (1-5) closes out the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic tomorrow afternoon with two games against University of Minnesota Morris at 3 p.m. and United States Coast Guard Academy at 5 p.m.
