LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team is set to host the United East Final Four this weekend, May 9-11 which will also feature Penn State Harrisburg, St. Mary's College of Maryland, and Cairn University. Â
Games one and two will be played at Bruggeworth Field at the Ralston Athletic Complex due to weather while games 3-7 will be played at Christy Mathewson Field. Â
Keystone locked up the top seed in the tournament as they went 15-1 in conference play and are currently 32-9 overall. The Giants are looking to capture their 20th straight conference championship. The team swept Wilson College in the second round series last week to advance. Â
The Giants offense is led by Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology) who is currently batting .459 and has a slugging percentage of .862. Rivas holds a team high of 10 home runs and 51 RBI. Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) posts a .438 batting average with 33 runs batted in. Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/James J. Ferris), Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area), Carlos Pascual (Paterson, N.J./International), and Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) are other key hitters to watch out for this series. Â
Senior right-handed pitcher Sean Brennan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) has been Keystone's ace this year as he is 8-0 with a 2.73 ERA. Quinn Holt (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) possesses a 3.10 ERA with 46 strikeouts. Both individuals earned United East Pitcher of the Week honors this season. Sophomore Leam Powell (Phillipsport, N.Y./Chapel Field Christian) is having a great season on the mound as he is 6-0 with 37 punch outs. Â
Penn State Harrisburg (31-9-1, 12-4 United East) secured the second seed in the conference tournament. The Nittany Lions are looking for their fifth conference championship in program history. Â
Demetre Koutras III has played and started in every contest for Harrisburg as he has a .418 batting average with 36 RBI. Blaine Waltimyer is batting .409 with eight home runs and 56 RBI. Â
On the pitching side, Fisher Druck has been a significant starter for the Nittany Lions. The junior is 5-1 and has struck out 65 batters against 15 walks in 52 innings pitched. Dylan Sattazahn has been a solid arm out of the bullpen. In 16 appearances, he is 4-0 with a 2.63 ERA. Â
Harrisburg defeated Penn State Berks in the second round series by scores of 15-1 and 12-2. Â
St. Mary's College of MarylandÂ
The No. 3 seed St. Mary's College of Maryland (13-14, 11-5 United East) swept Penn State Abington in the United East Second Round on Friday. Â
Cole Tarleton is the leader for the Seahawks as the senior has a .473 batting average with a slugging percentage of .892. He leads the team in home runs (6) and RBI (43). Ryder Chalk is 6-2 on the mound and has a 4.45 ERA with 42 strikeouts. Â
The Cairn University Highlanders earned the fifth seed in the tournament. Cairn moved onto the championship series as they knocked off No. 4 seed Penn College in a high scoring doubleheader, 12-5 and 19-14. Â
Andrew Holt is having an impressive season with a .445 batting average which ranks third in the conference. Tyler Warr, the 2024 United East Skye Division Player of the Year, has been a hitting machine as he leads the United East with 68 hits. The senior has 10 home runs with 69 RBI. Â
Sophomore pitcher Mikey Gutierrez holds a 2.57 ERA in seven starts and has struck out 30 batters. Â
