Late Push Not Enough as Women’s Basketball Falls to Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Keystone College women's basketball team fell to Lancaster Bible College, 66–45, in United East Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon.

Krista Cortazar (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) led Keystone with 12 points, adding three assists, while Jayda Price (York, Pa./William Penn) contributed 11 points off the bench and pulled down five rebounds. Phaneirra Barnett (Baltimore, Md./Edgewood) added eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. Hailee Hackett (Carmicahel, Calif./Rio Americano) chipped in seven points, two assists, and a block.

Lancaster Bible was led by Emily Wilson's 16 points and seven assists, while Shania Stoltzfus added 14 points.

The Giants hung close early, trading baskets in the opening minutes before Lancaster Bible used a late first-quarter run to take a 13–7 advantage after one.

Keystone continued to battle in the second quarter, cutting into the deficit behind strong work on the offensive glass and timely free throws, but the Chargers carried a 27–19 lead into halftime.

Lancaster Bible pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Keystone 17–13 to extend its margin to 44–32 entering the final period. The Chargers then shot over 50 percent from the field in the fourth quarter, using a balanced offensive attack to seal the victory.

Keystone shot 23.6 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line, finishing with a 34–45 rebounding disadvantage.

The Giants move to 3–13 overall and 2–3 in conference action and will look to bounce back in their next United East matchup on Tuesday when they take on Cedar Crest College at 6 p.m.
