LA PLUME, Pa.- Notre Dame of Maryland University used a dominant opening quarter and a balanced offensive attack to hand the Keystone College women's basketball team a 75-34 setback in United East Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Keystone (3-17, 2-7 United East) was paced by Hailee Hackett (Carmicahel, Calif./Rio Americano), who recorded a team-high 10 points, four rebounds and three assists. Krista Cortazar (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) added six points, while Phaneirra Barnett (Baltimore, Md./Edgewood) finished with five points and six rebounds. Jayda Price (York, Pa./William Penn) scored four points, and Tayana Bibbins (Lincoln, Del./Sussex Technical) and Alex Roos-Farmer (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) each added three.
Amani Watts led the Gators with 23 points and added 13 rebounds for a double-double performance. Madison Simmons finished with 13 points, while Raina Burns contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.
Allison Holman chipped in nine points and four assists, and Aaliyah Conteh scored eight points off the bench as Notre Dame improved to 10-7 overall and 6-1 in United East play.
The Gators jumped out to a 21-5 lead after one quarter and never looked back, holding Keystone to single digit scoring in three of the four quarters. Notre Dame shot 43.8 percent from the field for the game while limiting the Giants to 27.1 percent.
The Giants struggled to find an offensive rhythm early, managing just two field goals in the first quarter and falling behind 34-19 by halftime. Notre Dame extended its advantage in the third quarter, outscoring Keystone 26-10 to take a 60-29 lead into the final period.
Notre Dame held a 48-29 edge on the glass and scored 24 points off Keystone's 26 turnovers. The Gators also outscored the Giants 42-14 in the paint and received 25 points from their bench.
Keystone welcomes Penn State Berks to the Gambal Athletic Center on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
