LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East Conference member institutions will be participating in the fourth annual "United Feast" initiative from January 30 to February 8.
Each campus's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) groups will be setting up points to drop off canned goods and non-perishables for the canned food drive. Institutions will be collecting these items at all home athletic events as well.
"This is always one of our favorite events of the year," remarked United East Associate Commissioner, Sam Carges. "Last year, we showed what the biggest conference in Division III can do for our surrounding communities and this year I expect an even greater turnout.
This marks the fourth year the conference has particpated in the "United Feast" initiative. Last year, the 17 members of the conference were able to collect over 7,200 canned goods and other non-perishables for their local food pantries. Lancaster Bible took the crown in 2025 (~1,900 items donated) while Penn College and Penn State Abington both hit the 1,000 donation mark.
Throughout the week, totals will be relayed to the conference where a leaderboard will show which schools are leading the initiative.
"Every year we have increased our donation total and I can't wait to see how our member institutions do this year," stated Carges. "Last year was a close battle between a number of schools and I know they all want to claim the title again!"
The 14 institutions as well as the conference office will collect items throughout the timeframe and have each chosen a local charity center where each group will donate the goods to at the conclusion of the initiative. Find the donation centers in which they plan to give here:
