LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College men's basketball battled Penn State Abington for 40 minutes on Tuesday night, but a decisive stretch early in the second half proved to be the difference in a 77–64 setback at the Gambal Athletic Center.
The team honored men's basketball senior Kamdyn Ayers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Western) prior to the start of the contest.
Jden Golding (Jacksonville, Fla./Clay) led the way offensively with a 19-point effort showing aggression from all over the floor and adding rebounds as he fought to generate offense for the Giants.
Ahmodrion Jones (Wilmington, Del./Delcastle Tech) provided a strong complement, chipping in 17 points, while Demetrius Thomas (Atlanta, Ga./North Clayton) contributed nine points.
The Nittany Lions were paced by Mike Byfield, who torched the defense for 27 points on 12-of-17 shooting, including four rebounds and a handful of second-chance opportunities. JoJo Kelly added 12 points, and Tyler Fox (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) scored 10 to keep Abington's offense rolling throughout the night.
Both teams battled through tough stretches as the two squads were locked in at 28 apiece after the first 20 minutes before Abington pulled away in the second half.
Keystone (6–18, 3–9 United East) wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 14 at Rosemont College.
