CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- An early surge by Wilson College proved too much to overcome as the Keystone College women's basketball team fell 75–43 in United East Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Tayana Bibbins (Lincoln, Del./Sussex Technical) led Keystone with 12 points, going 8-of-9 from the free-throw line and adding four steals. Jayda Price (York, Pa./William Penn) contributed nine points and five rebounds, and Krista Cortazar (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) finished with 9 points, including three made three-pointers, while pulling down six boards.
For Wilson, Jewels Torres paced the offense with 23 points, going 13-of-15 from the free-throw line and adding four assists. Lae Black chipped in 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Leah Laubach scored 12 points and Chloe Irving added 10 points. Chelcie Forrester and Mackenzie Caldwell-Degnon each contributed 8 points.
Wilson opened the game with a 30-10 first quarter and carried the lead into the half, holding a 45-19 advantage at intermission. Keystone rallied in the second half, outscoring Wilson in the third quarter, but was unable to overcome the early deficit as the Phoenix closed the game with a balanced attack.
The Giants shot 25.9 percent from the field and 19.4 percent from three-point range. The Phoenix shot 38.3 percent from the field and dominated in points in the paint (44) and fast break points (14).
Keystone (4-19, 3-9 United East) returns home to host Penn State Abington in its regular-season finale on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
