Keystone Opens NCAA Regional Tournament on Wednesday in New England Bracket

#4 Giants will take on Suffolk University on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.

Indianapolis, Ind. – Keystone College's baseball team will open NCAA Regional play on Wednesday morning after being selected as the #4 seed in the New England Regional bracket hosted by Eastern Connecticut University.  The Giants, who won their eighth-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference championship on Sunday, will open the eight-team, double-elimination tournament on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. against #5 Suffolk University.  All games will be played at Eastern Baseball Stadium in Mansfield, Connecticut.

The winner of this week's regional tournament, which runs Wednesday through Sunday, will advance eight-team NCAA Division III Collegiate World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin to be played May 27-31.  Keystone, who is making its ninth-straight trip to the NCAA Regionals, is looking for their second trip to the World Series as the Giants made their only appearance in the final eight of the national tournament in 2011.

Keystone, one of 56 teams to qualify for this year's NCAA field, enters the tournament with a 33-9 overall record and is riding a six-game winning streaking including sweeping through three CSAC playoff games to earn the program's 12th overall conference title in as many years while clinching the leagues automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Keystone's first round opponent, Suffolk University, enters Wednesday's contest with a 33-11 mark on the spring and punched their ticket to the NCAA Regional by winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship on May 8 with a dramatic, 5-4, 10-inning win over Saint. Joseph's (Me.).
