Miller, Bronzburg to lead Giants at NCAA regional this weekend

Duo have combined for 37 wins so far this season

Transitioning from high school to collegiate competition has gone quite smoothly for Keystone College freshmen wrestlers Paul Miller (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) and Colby Bronzburg (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) so far this season.

This talented duo has combined for 37 wins to date, 21 of which have come by way of pins.

This weekend, they'll get an opportunity to see how they measure up to the best talent in New York and Pennsylvania by taking part in the NCAA Mideast regional championships to be held at the Glazer Arena on the campus of Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.

Wrestling begins Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

Miller currently leads the Giants with a 20-3 record, of which 14 of his wins have come by way of pins.   He has wrestled 22 of his matches in the 133-pound weight class, with one of his three losses coming against highly regarded Matt Noble of New York University in the championship match of the 133-pound weight class at the Ned McGinley Invitational at King's College on November 4.  Noble is 22-4 entering this weekend's tournament.

"Paul's record speaks for itself," says second-year Keystone College head coach Steve Mytych.  "He's been through the ringer, plus he's wrestled in one of the best districts in the country in high school, so he knows what it takes to get the job done.  He'll be well prepared for this weekend's competition."

Bronzburg, a 125-pounder who is 17-7 this year, with seven pins and two other victories by technical falls (15-or-more points), is one of the taller wrestlers (5-7) in his weight class, so his height advantage could enhance his chances.

"Colby will be one of the taller 125-pounders in the field," says Mytych.  "He needs to establish himself.  He lost a couple of matches this year when he had big leads, so he'll need to work on keeping his concentration and using his size to his advantage."

The top three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes at this weekend's NCAA regional championships will advance to the NCAA Division III championships to be held at the Cleveland Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio, Friday and Saturday, March 9-10.
