WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Keystone College men's wrestling team travelled to Lycoming College for the Rennie Rodarmel Allstate Invitational Sunday morning.
The Giants placed ninth in the nine-team field with 24.5 points. Lycoming claimed the team title with 156.5 points, followed by Misericordia University in second with 110.5 points and the University of Scranton in third at 98.5.
Nero Bono (Southboro, Mass./Assabet Valley) delivered a standout performance for the Giants, earning a runner-up finish at 197 pounds. He opened the tournament with a victory by fall over King's College's Josh Brown at the 5:37 mark, then followed with an impressive 11-1 major decision against Lycoming's Tyler Lobb.
Bono continued his strong run in the semifinals, defeating Pitt.-Bradford's Gavin Thompson by decision, 7-1, to secure a spot in the championship bout. In the finals, Bono battled but ultimately fell by decision to Lycoming's Ivan Neal, 7-2.
At 165 pounds, senior Codi Bomboy (Montrose, Pa./Elk Lake) also picked up a win for Keystone, pinning Jordan Bentley of King's at 1:31 to add to the Giants' point total.
Keystone will host Elmira College and the University at Albany in a tri-meet on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.
