Giants' baseball, women's lacrosse teams home Tuesday, April 10

Baseball team to host Centenary at 3 pm, women's lacrosse welcomes Cedar Crest at 4 pm

The Keystone College baseball and women's lacrosse teams will each put a two-game winning streak on the line this Tuesday, April 10.

The baseball team, fresh off a sweep of Cabrini University Friday afternoon in Radnor, Pennsylvania, hosts Centenary University at 3:00 p.m. at Christy Mathewson Field, while the women's lacrosse team welcomes Cedar Crest College at the Athletic Field and Track Complex starting at 4:00 p.m.    The women's lacrosse team has out-scored its last two opponents, 38-12, to improve to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).

Juniors Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant) and Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask) have consistently provided the spark for the Giant baseball team, which has won 11 of its last 12 games to improve to 14-6 overall and 2-0 in the CSAC.  Hussein is currently in the midst of a 12-game hitting streak that has raised his batting average from .227 on March 12 to its current average of .408.

McFadden is a multi-talented performer who leads the Giants in multi-RBI games with seven and is batting .338, with nine doubles and two home runs.  As a member of the pitching staff, he is tied with senior Troy Terzi (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame) for the team-lead in wins with four and is second in innings pitched (40.0) and fourth in earned run average (3.38).  Sophomore Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) has also been on a hot streak, hitting .325 in his last 11 games to raise his batting average from .138 to .246.  During this span, he has had six multi-hit games.

The Giants will return to action on Wednesday, April 11, against Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Keystone will also play Centenary again on Thursday, April 12, in Hackettstown, New Jersey, starting at 3:00 p.m.

The women's lacrosse team made history this past Saturday, April 7, when the Giants defeated Centenary, 20-0, in Hackettstown.  It was the first time in the four-year existence of the program that Keystone held an opponent scoreless.

In addition, senior Nina Hodanich (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) reached a personal milestone, finishing with five goals and two assists to become only the second player in Giants' history to record 100 career points.  She enters tomorrow's game with 79 goals and 23 assists for 102 points, joining teammate and fellow senior Emily Hawkins (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) to reach this coveted plateau.  Hawkins, who scored seven goals and assisted on two others against Centenary, now has 135 goals and 42 assists for 177 total points in her remarkable career.

And with the way sophomore Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) is playing, it won't be long until she joins Hodanich and Hawkins in the 100-points club.  She has already scored 55 points (38 goals, 17 assists) in 21 games.

After tomorrow's game, the Giants will remain at home and host Notre Dame (Md.) in CSAC action this Saturday, April 14, at 1:00 p.m.
