CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – Keystone women's basketball dropped a 73-52 decision to nearby Clarks Summit Saturday afternoon in second round Colonial States Athletic Conference action at the Huckaby Gymnasium.
Clarks Summit improved to 10-0 in the CSAC (14-2 overall) as it swept the season series after also winning, 58-56, on Dec. 2 in La Plume.
Saturday's loss is the first time this season the Giants (4-3 CSAC, 6-6 overall) fell in consecutive games.
Outstanding Performers
- Mac Oribello (San Diego, Calif./Westview) put in a team-high 21 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists.
- Lee Gordon (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Wood) also finished in double-digit scoring figures with 13 points. She also had five assists, three boards and four steals.
- Randie Traxler led the Defenders with 25 points while shooting 7 of 13 from beyond the arc.
- Two CSU players recorded double-doubles: Elizabeth Singleton (17 points, 12 rebounds) and Torri Laman (13 points, 12 rebounds).
Inside The Box Score
- CSU ended the first period on a 7-0 run to break a 10-all tie. The Defenders maintained that lead until just over the halfway point of the second quarter where they went on to outscore the Giants, 31-10, through the 5:49 mark of the third period.
- Only 14 total free throws were taken with each team splitting the load in half. Keystone shot 2 of 7 (28.6 percent) while Clarks Summit went 5 of 7 (71.4 percent).
- Bella Lamonea (Glendora, Calif./South Hills) returned to action for the first time since Nov. 30 after missing the last eight games. The reigning CSAC Player of the Year recorded 17 minutes off the bench.
What's Next
- Keystone will be back in action Monday evening for a 6 p.m. tip-off at the Gambal Athletic Center against Saint Elizabeth (0-9 CSAC, 0-13 overall).
- Clarks Summit will play a non-conference game Monday against Penn State Harrisburg before returning home Wednesday to host Valley Forge (2-6 CSAC, 2-9 overall).
- Reminder that spectators are not allowed at CSAC home events through Jan. 31.
- The CSAC Championships is under a month away with 11 conference games remaining and six spots available. The Giants are currently No. 6 in the standings.
