EWING, N.J.- The Keystone College wrestling team competed in their final regular season tournament as they competed in the Mideast Futures Tournament at The College of New Jersey Sunday morning.
Nero Bono (Southboro, Mass./Assabet Valley) was crowned the 197-pound champion as the sophomore wrestler picked up his first two wins by major decision versus Gavin Wagner (Elizabethtown) and Myles Brown (Alvernia). He followed that up with a tech fall victory against Mark Ritschel of York College (PA) to advance to the title match.
In the 197-pound title bout, Bono would battle Muhlenberg's Deon Savage. Bono was down 7-4 before he pinned his opponent with less than a minute in the second period to claim the match and the title.
Rocco Arduini (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville) notched a third-place finish at the 285-pound weight class. He won his first match 7-2 to Mohamed Abdelatty of Ursinus College. After falling in his semifinal match, Arduini would bounce back in a big way as he came out victorious in the third-place match by fall to Alvernia's Tyler Carter.
Keystone will now gear up for the NCAA Mideast Regionals from Mar. 1-2 down in Rochester, N.Y. starting at 10 a.m.
