Riverdale, N.Y. – Keystone College's wrestling posted its first two wins of the season on Saturday afternoon at the NY/PA Duals hosted by Mount Saint Vincent College. The Giants defeated host Mount Saint Vincent and Hunter College while falling to Nassau Community College and New York University (NYU) to move to 2-5 on the season.
Zack LeBarron (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) led Keystone with four pins on the day,
Antonio Lopez (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) posted three wins, and
Ryan Celenza (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) had a pair of pins to lead the Giants on the day.
Match 1 vs. Mount Saint Vincent
Keystone defeated the host Dolphins 31-22 for their first victory at the NCAA Division III level. Celenza and LeBarron picked up pins at the 133 and 149 weight classes while
Charlie Johnson (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) scored a major decision win at 157 pounds.
George Stilgenbauer (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) scored a 5-2 decision at 165 pounds while
Zachary Briggs (Wyoming, Pa./Wyoming Area) picked up a pin at the 4:11 mark of the 184 pound bout. A forfeit decision for the Giants closed out the final score.
Match 2 vs. Nassau CC
The Lions, the two-time defending NJCAA Division 3 National champions, defeated the Giants 38-12 with a pair of pins, three decisions, a technical fall, and three forfeits. Lopez scored a pin at the 1:42 mark of the 125 pound contest while LeBarron also scored a pin at 149 in 5:11.
Match 3 vs. Hunter
Keystone won six bouts against Hunter for its second win of the day, 33-16 over the Hawks Celenza notched a pin in just 49 seconds at 133 while LeBarron scored another pin in 1:07 at 149. The two quick pins were sandwiched around a 13-5 major decision from Joshua Rivera at 141. The Giants added a pair of forfeit wins before Lopez scored a 16-0 technical fall at 125.
Match 4 vs. NYU
Lopez got Keystone off to a good start with a 6-4 sudden victory win at 125 against NYU and LeBarron notched his fourth pin of the day, 6:16 into the 149 pound match, but that was all the Giants would get against Violets, who got two pins, two major decisions, two forfeits, and a technical fall, and a decision in the 40-9 win.
