Paul Miller (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) and
Jake Rugis (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) recorded pins on Friday afternoon, but it wasn't enough as Keystone College's wrestling team dropped a 40-12 decision at Hunter College. The Hawks lift their overall record to 3-1 on the season while the Giants slip to 1-4.
Miller improved to 8-1 on the season at 133 pounds, notching his fifth pin of the young season at the 1:55 mark of his bout with Elliot Natanov.
Rugis upped his record to 3-2 at 285 pounds, pinning Justin Rodriguez at the 1:51 mark of the heavyweight matchup for his second fall of the year.
Hunter swept the remaining four contested matches as John Sherlock scored a major decision win over
Harry Marr (Nottingham, Pa./Oxford Area) at 141 pounds, 11-1, while Ronaldo Rodriguez slipped past
TJ Caswell (Manville, N.J./Manville) at 149 pounds with a 7-5 decision.
At 157 pounds, Sean Miller edge
Thomas Michaels (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) with a 6-4 decision while Declan Gray pinned
Jorge Guillen (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) at 197 pounds.
The Hawks also picked up four forfeit victories to account for the final team score.
The Giants will make their home debut next Saturday when they host the Keystone College Alumni and Friends Duals in the Gambal Athletic Center. The action starts at 10:00 a.m. with the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, and Ulster County Community College making the trip to La Plume.
