Wrestling Sweeps Alumni and Friends Duals

Five Giants go 3-0 as Keystone win all three matches in home opener

La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College's wrestling won all three matches in its home debut on Saturday, going sweeping the competition at the Giants' Alumni and Friends Duals competition.   The Giants defeated Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Ulster County Community College, and the Pennsylvania College of Technology to level its record at 4-4 on the year.
 
Colby Bronzburg (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg), Paul Miller (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley), Harry Marr (Nottingham, Pa./Oxford Area), TJ Caswell (Manville, N.J./Manville) and Thomas Michaels (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) each went 3-0 on the day to lead Keystone to the unbeaten day.
 
Match 1 vs. Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology
 
In Saturday's opening match against Thaddeus Stevens (0-1), Keystone won both contested matches by decisions and benefited from six forfeits by the Bulldogs to cruise to a 42-6 victory.  Bronzburg opened the match with a 9-4 decision over Earl Stephen Caple at 125 pounds while Marr edged Brad Snider in a 4-3 decision at 141 pounds.  Thaddeus Stevens picked up their lone win of the match by forfeit at 174 pounds
 
Match 2 vs. Ulster County Community College
 
In the Giants' second bout of the day against Ulster (2-2), Keystone won the first six matches including three by pins on its way to a 29-24 victory over the Patriots.  Bronzburg opened the match with a technical fall at 125 pounds before Miller pinned his opponent at the 1:13 mark of the 133 pound bout.  Tahron Sheffield (Plainfield, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) recorded a pin at 1:01 of the 141 matchup and Marr posted a 7-1 decision at 149 ponds.
 
Caswell earned a pin just 49 seconds into the 157 pound contest before Michaels earned a 5-3 decision at 165 pounds.  Ulster got two forfeit wins and two pins in the final four flights to close out the final score line.
 
Match 3 vs. Pennsylvania College of Technology
 
In Saturday's finale against Penn College (2-5), Miller and Caswell earned wins in contests bouts to lead Keystone to a 34-24 victory to close out the 3-0 day.  Miller notched his second pin of the day at the 1:08 mark of the 133 pound contest while Caswell posted a 13-4 major decision at 157 pounds.  The Wildcats posted pins at 141 pounds and 285 pounds while the Giants claimed four forfeit wins to two for Penn.

Keystone will close out competition for the semester on Monday, December 18 at the Washington and Lee University Duals.  Matches are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. in Lexington, Virginia.
