Track and Field Wrap Up 2026 Season in United East Championship, Walking Away With an Hassan First Place Medal

LA PLUME, PA- Keystone put together a great showing at the United East Championships, getting contributions all over the track and field lineup and picking up points in a bunch of events.

On the track, Evan Suraci (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) led the way in the 100-meter prelims, running 11.75 to move on out of heat one. Freshman Marquez Stickland followed with an 11.80 in heat two to qualify as well, while Zamir Poteat (Philadelphia, Pa./West Philadelphia) crossed in 12.25.

The women's 100 saw three freshmen all hit personal bests. Indya Rogers (Leeds, Ala./Leeds) ran 14.46, Jamilah Higgins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Purcell Martin) finished in 14.64, and Josie Evans-Grant (Anchorage, AK/Grace Christian) posted a 16.11. Higgins kept it going in the 100-meter hurdles, taking fourth in 18.87. It was a PR, good enough to qualify, and it added five points for Keystone.

Strickland came back in the 200 and qualified again with a 23.59, while Shateek Humbert (Manhattan, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) dropped a personal-best 26.03. On the women's side, Higgins picked up another PR in the 200 (29.91), and Rogers finished in 31.63.

In the 400, Strickland turned in one of Keystone's better finishes on the track, placing fifth in 52.01. It was another personal best, earned him a spot in the next round, and added four more points.

The biggest highlight of the day came in the field. Freshman Ayzeem Hassan (Philadelphia, Pa./Motivation) won the discus with a throw of 42.75 meters (140-03), a personal best that brought in 10 points for the Giants. Corbin Robinson (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown Area) (26.38m) and Nathan Barrigan (25.97m) also competed in the event.

Jahvani Vasquez (Bradenton, Fla./Southeast) scored in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters (5-08.75) to take sixth and pick up three points. He also added a personal best in the triple jump at 11.94 meters (39-02.25).

In the long jump, Suraci led the group with a 6.05-meter mark. Barrigan (5.34m) and Vasquez (5.26m) followed, while Azmir Ludvig (York, Pa./Central York) added a personal-best 5.06 meters.

Higgins capped off a busy day by scoring again in the long jump, finishing sixth at 4.58 meters (15-00.50) to add three more points.

Keystone also got points out of both relays. The men's 4x100 team placed fifth in 46.47, and the 4x400 team took sixth in 3:42.78.

Keystone wraps up their 2026 campaign by finishing in 7th place in the United East Conference on the men's side, and 8th place on the women's side.
