La PLUME, Pa. - The Keystone College women's basketball team will be hosting the CSAC Championship this Saturday, Feb. 29 against the College of St. Elizabeth at 1 p.m.
This is the second-straight year the Giants qualified for the conference championship. After falling to Rosemont in last year's title game, the team looks to bring home the first Colonial State Athletic Conference title in program history.
In conjunction with the CSAC, fans can purchase CSAC Championship shirts for $10 (must pay in cash) when you enter the Ace Spalding Arena.
Keystone clinched the #1 seed in the conference playoffs after finishing the regular season 19-6 (17-1 CSAC). The Giants would take on the #5 seed Centenary University after the Cyclones defeated Clarks Summit University in the quarterfinal game on Feb. 24. The Giants took care of business and grabbed the win over the Cyclones, 68-47.
Bella Lamonea (Glendora, Calif./South Hills), the CSAC Player of the Year, led the way with 25 points and five rebounds.
Mac Oribello (San Diego, Calif./Westview) scored 13 points and had five assists, and
Khaliah Gordon (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Wood) tallied nine points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Renata Alberici (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) and
Samy Farah (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) combined for 24 rebounds in the semifinal match.
In their first year in the CSAC, St. Elizabeth secured the #2 seed in the CSAC playoffs. The Eagles wrapped up the regular season 18-6 (15-3 CSAC). St. Elizabeth hosted the #3 seed Notre Dame of Maryland University on Wednesday night and like the Giants, the Eagles dominated against the Gators 76- 51. For the Eagles, Rakiyah Sellers, an All-CSAC Second Team selection, led the way with 28 points and five rebounds.
During the regular season, the Giants took on the Eagles twice with Keystone pulling out wins in both games. On Jan. 22, Keystone defeated St. Elizabeth 90-70 and on Feb. 22, the Giants edged out the Eagles in a very close and competitive game 78- 72.
