Mike Thomas '56 was a standout on the baseball and men's basketball teams, serving as co-captain and leader of both teams. 

While at Keystone, he was a standout member of the 1956 PIAA collegiate basketball championship team. 

Mr. Thomas was an accomplished international hydroplane racer who broke two speed records in separate classes in the United States and Canada.  Mike gained fame as the driver of the world renowned Miss Budweiser boat, and it was while driving Miss Budweiser that Mike set a world speed record in 1963. 

In 1963 he represented the United States at the world power boat championships in Italy.  The American Power Boat Association created the Mike Thomas Memorial Sportsmanship trophy in his honor; this award is presented to drivers exhibiting outstanding sportsmanship.
