Siobhan A. Ziagos ’79 is honored for her outstanding accomplishments as a member of Keystone Junior College’s field hockey team.  In addition to numerous individual accomplishments, Siobhan led the Giants to national prominence as the team continued to advance through the post-season.

A standout defender, Siobhan was a First Team NJCAA All-American honoree in 1978 and was a two-time NJCAA All-Region XIX selection, earning the distinction in both of her seasons with the Giants in 1977 and 1978.  She was also selected to the NJCAA Region XIX All-Tournament Team in 1977.

The 1977 season was a special one for Siobhan and the Giants as Keystone earned the top seed in the national tournament.   Siobhan anchored the defense to lead the team all the way to the NJCAA national championship game and a runner-up finish in the nation.

Keystone posted a 9-1-1 overall record in the 1977 season and won the NJCAA Region XIX championship in 1977 led by Siobhan’s defense.  The Giants allowed just nine goals during the regular season and conceded just 16 totals goals that year.

After the Giants lost many of their key players from the highly successful 1977 squad, Siobhan was instrumental in leading Keystone to a strong season the following year as the team finished as the NJCAA Region XIX runner-up in 1978.

In her two seasons as the anchor of Keystone’s defense, Siobhan led the Giants to an impressive overall record of 17-6-2, two trips to the NJCAA Region XIX championship game, and 1977’s run to the NJCAA national championship game.

Siobhan is married to Tom Cawley and the couple has a son, T.C. Cawley.  She currently works as a personal care assistant at Life Geisinger in Scranton.
