Susan E. Cook Strickler ’89 is honored for her outstanding playing career as a member of Keystone Junior College’s softball team.  Combining superior athletic talent with a commitment to excellence and dedication to teammates helped Strickler lead the Giants to success on the diamond.

Susan was one of the most dangerous hitters of her era and set a Keystone record with a .434 career batting average in two seasons with the Giants.  She closed out her career as the school’s all-time leader in triples with 11, while her seven triples in the 1988 season was also a single-season record that has only been matched twice since.

On April 26, 1989, Susan collected nine RBIs in one a game to establish a single-game record that still stands today.  She drove in a total of 11 runs in that day’s doubleheader which is the second-most in program history.

Susan collected 52 career RBIs to finish second all-time in Keystone history in the category and she also wrapped up her prolific career for the Giants ranked second all-time with 11 career doubles and seven doubles in a season.

Susan finished the 1988 season with 28 RBIs, which was the third-best single season total in program history at the time.  Her .438 batting average in the 1989 campaign was the third-best mark in program history.  Susan also posted the third most hits in a season with 31 and the third most hits in a career with 56.

In her two seasons at Keystone, Susan led the Giants to 25 victories including an impressive, 14-5 record in 1989.

Susan is in her 18th year as an administrative assistant in the Selinsgrove Area School District.  She spent 10 years as the high school’s assistant field hockey coach and has been a field hockey official for the last 22 years and is still active today.

Susan and her husband, Mike Strickler, recently celebrated 24 years of marriage and the couple has a daughter, KateLynn, who is a 2014 Keystone graduate, and a son, Jacob, who is a senior at Selinsgrove High School.  Susan and Mike, who reside in Selinsgrove, strive to help others improve their lives personally, professional, or financially though his work as a leadership consultant.
