Hall of Fame
Scott Grimes is recognized for his outstanding achievements on the baseball diamond that led to a professional playing career. Scott established six school records at Keystone and ranked in the top-four in four other categories before launching his highly successful professional career.
While wearing a Giants’ uniform, Scott set school career records with 78 doubles, 89 stolen bases, and 34 time being hit by a pitch while also holding single season records for batting average (.573 – 2004), doubles (27 – 2004), and games played (51- 2003). Grimes’ .506 batting average during the 2005 season ranks second all-time behind only his 2004 average and his 33 stolen bases in 2003 are the third most in a season by a Keystone player. Scott scored 61 runs in 2004 and 60 in 2003 to hold the third and fourth best totals in school history, respectively.
After finishing his career with the Giants with a .481 batting average, 272 hits, 78 doubles, 16 triples, 18 home runs, 165 RBIs, 218 runs scored, and 89 stolen bases, Grimes played for the Sussex Skyhawks of the Can-Am League in 2006 and 2007 and ranked in the top five of the league in both batting average and on-base percentage.
While playing for the Worcester Tornadoes in 2008, Scott turned in one of the all-time greatest single-season performances in Can-Am League history in which he was named the Can-Am League Player of the Year. Grimes led the league with 87 runs to set a new league record while also leading the league with six triples, 228 total bases, and a .626 slugging percentage while ranking in the top-three in hits (133), home runs (21), and on-base percentage (.442). In addition to his Player of the Year honor, Scott was selected as the Star of the Stars Award for best overall statistics, and named a Can-Am All-Star.
Following the 2008 season, Grimes signed with the New York Mets before suffering a season-ending injury. Scott joined the York Revolution of the Atlantic League in 2010 and was named the Atlantic League Player of the Year after shattering a league-record with 138 runs in 132 games. Grimes was named both a midseason All-Star starter and a postseason All-Star and was also selected to Baseball America’s All-Independent All-Star Team. Scott has twice led the Atlantic League in runs scored and capped his stellar 2010 season by scoring the championship clinching run in Game 3 of Atlantic League Championship Series.
