Kevin Hazard ’69 was recognized for his exceptional accomplishments as a member of Keystone Junior College’s wrestling team. His commitment to the wrestling program and achievements helped establish the Giants as regional and national power.
 
Wrestling under the guidance of legendary head coach Larry Fornicola, Kevin was a two-time Mid-Atlantic District champion, winning titles in both of his seasons at Keystone.  He was also named the Outstanding Wrestler at the Mid-Atlantic District Tournament for the 1968-69 season to become the first of just five Giants to earn the distinguished award.
 
After winning his second straight district championship, Kevin went on to earn NJCAA All-American honors after finishing third at the 167-pound weight class at the 1968-69 national championship tournament.
 
A team captain for the 1968-69 season, Kevin led Keystone to an impressive 16-3-1 overall team record in his two years with the Giants.
 
Kevin continued his athletic and academic careers at the College of William and Mary where he was a two-year starter and a team captain as a senior.  He became a two-time Southern Conference runner-up for the Tribe and qualified for nationals in the 1971-72 season.
 
Kevin remained active in the sport following the end of his competitive career, coaching youth wrestling for 30 years and winning two Maryland State Junior championships.  He also coached three AAU high school national champions and numerous All-Americans.
 
Kevin also gave back to the sport by serving as a Freestyle and Greco-Roman referee for 25 years.  Furthermore, he has actively marketed the sport by operating two local PBC television shows, running pledge breaks on televised wrestling events, and announcing for local and regional wrestling events. 
 
He has also worked with ESPN along with the Southern Conference and the ACC and recently started announcing for American University. He has also served as the voice of Robinson High School wrestling for the past 20 years.
 
Kevin was elected to the Virginia Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1997 and currently serves as the vice president of the organization.
 
He has worked full-time as a construction executive and has been a town councilman in Middleburg, Virginia for the past seven years.
