Ron Trexler ’68 was recognized for his exceptional accomplishments as a member of Keystone Junior College’s wrestling team which continued collegiately before leading to a career in education.  Ron’s commitment to the wrestling program and achievements helped establish the Giants as regional and national power.

Wrestling under the guidance of legendary head coach Larry Fornicola, who was previously his coach for two years in high school, Ron led Keystone’s to its first two winning seasons as the program emerged as a force in the region and also on the national stage.  The Giants posted an outstanding 16-3-1 overall record during Ron’s two years wrestling for the blue and orange.

In his first season with Keystone, Ron led the Giants to an 8-2 overall record and the team’s first-ever Pennsylvania Junior College Athletic Association (PJCAA) state championship.  Ron also won the individual state title in his weight class before guiding the Giants to a fourth place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XV championships.

Keystone also placed 13th at the NJCAA National championships that same year in the Giants’ first-ever appearance in the national championship tournament.

Keystone entered the following season ranked nationally and posted an impressive 8-1-1 overall record before establishing a then program-best third place finish at the NJCAA Region XV championships.

Off the mat, Ron was an active member of Keystone’s campus as a member of Keystone’s men’s soccer team, Varsity K, and the Tribunal.

Ron continued his wrestling career at Millersville University where he helped lead the Marauders to a seventh place finish at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships in his final season at the collegiate level following an 11th place showing the previous year.

Ron went on to graduate with a bachelor of science degree from Millersville in 1971 and became an industrial arts teacher with the Allentown School District, position he held for 33 years until his retirement.

Additionally, Ron parlayed his love of wrestling and talent as an educator to a 23-year coaching career in scholastic wrestling.  After five years as the head coach at Trexler Junior High School, he joined the coaching staff at William Allen High School as an assistant coach.  Ron went on to become the head coach at William Allen where mentored seven District 11 champions, four Northeast Region champions, and four Pennsylvania state place winners.
